SPONSORING Although the new President Kibaki, who was elected in 2002, introduced free primary education, in Kenya only half of the children currently have access to education, percentage which drastically decreases in secondary education. Numerous problems are encountered in public Kenyan schools: crumbing structures, lack of teaching material, overcrowded classrooms, lack of teachers and untrained personnel. It is often the case that parents, who even though they are not required to pay for school fees, are unable to pay for uniforms and books, which are essential for primary education. Our Foundation has started a sponsoring programme, thanks to which 94 children are now attending primary school in Ukunda. Our desire is that we can offer access to education to more and more children. To help support us in this important mission, we would like to ask for your direct and most concrete help by subscribing to a sponsoring agreement. With 600 Fr per year, you can ensure the payment of school fees, health care and daily nourishment for one child.
