The Child to Child for Africa Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life of Kenyan kids by providing better educational opportunities for them.
The mission of our foundation is to finance education for African children, regardless of their gender or religion, to foster vocational training and to invest on building or renovating schools.
Child to Child for Africa was founded in Switzerland in 2002. The idea behind it was born when two friends travelled to Kenya and realized that they wanted to do something for people living in such extreme poverty.
We chose to dedicate the foundation to the memory of Domizio Lepori, a young man who had devoted his life to the poor and died tragically in the sinking of the Le Joola ferry in 2002.
In 2005 the Foundation joined FOSIT (an umbrella organization that coordinates the activities of several NGOs in the Canton Ticino: www.fosit.ch), thus becoming acknowledged as an NGO.
Being part of FOSIT is important because it allows us to:
- receive support and counseling at any moment
- receive training (through courses, meetings and workshops) on cooperation
- set up a viable project in the country we want to work in
- get to know the members of other NGOs and exchange expertise aimed at solving common issues
